In a hurry? It can be hard to get dinner on the table and in the dog dish! Slow cookers are a great way to make healthy food for your four-legged family member.
Benefits of Slow Cookers and Crock Pots
Crockpot or slow cooker meals are easy to make and a great way to make multiple servings for the week. I love my crock pot because it makes my life easier! I just have a basic six-quart model by Crockpot that has served me well.
With a slow cooker, you simply cut up your ingredients, place them in the cooker with some water, and set the timer and the temperature. Some recipes need to be stirred occasionally – once an hour or so. But most do well to just sit and simmer all day as you go about your other chores.
Plan Your Recipes
It is important to balance the ingredients and provide a nutritious meal. You can also use these meals to cover a small serving of high-quality kibble or as an independent meal. Consult with your veterinarian to make sure your dog’s health needs are being met.
Dogs, like humans, benefit from having a variety of foods. So be sure to mix up your recipes to make sure your dogs are getting everything he or she needs.
Hamburger Hash
This is a great meal to throw together in 10 minutes, cook on low for 6 hours and voila! Happy dog! Depending on the activity level and age of your pouch you can choose regular or lean meat. For dogs who are overweight, ground turkey works well too.
